"JAZZ UNLIMITED" at the Troc - 1950

Besides running his combo, BOB McMULLIN featured a weekly CBC Canada radio program in which his large studio orchestra would broadcast live from dance floor of the Troc Ballroom. (Full radio control room facilities were in a room just off to the left of the stage).

Bob also had a popular quartette which played weekends at Chic's Supper Club, (near and opposite the present site of the Coast Terrace Inn on the old Calgary Trail which in those days was considered to be out in the country!).

Bob later went on to Winnipeg were he became Musical Director with the CBC Radio Network (Western Division) until his retirement.

A few years ago, he returned to Edmonton for a quick visit to look up his old musical friends. He was invited to sit in with our band on clarinet/sax at one of our morning rehearsals. Sadly, a few months later, Bob passed away very suddenly.
